PRESENT:  Ric Gaudet, Coach Ben Alaimo, Kathy and Wayne Cookson, Steve and Carol Hawes, Karen LaClair, Sean Mazzella, Kevin Over, Dave Wotus

 

Ø      Ric spoke to Paul Norris about the dugouts.  They have been approved by all committees, boards, etc.  The next step is to go to the Town Council.  Paul wants to know how much the Windsor Baseball community is willing to contribute. ($5,000 per group is a figure that has been discussed.  Other options were as follows: 

§         See if Ken Parciak could get some money from the baseball budget

§         Approach the BOE for monetary support

§         Perhaps contractors would donate materials or services

§         Windsor baseball community is willing to support the dugouts up to $20,000 [including W.A.L.L., W.I.L.L., Windsor Youth Baseball, Senior League, Legion]

§         We will look into a payment plan for donating groups.

§         Still looking to Ellsworth School for a permanent field.

 

Ø      FUND RAISING—

o       Rock Cats

§         Minimum of 5 dates (Rock Cats would like to see 10 game commitment) a suggestion was made to perhaps combine with softball—we will try to get 5 games

§         Need 10-15 people to work each game.

§         Must be 16 to work

§         We get 10-11% of take

§         Minimum payment of $125 for each game—even if a rainout—can also be as much as $700-$800 per game

§         Games are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis

§         We would need to have insurance

§         Ric will meet with the Rockcats in January or early February

§         Time commitment is 5-6 hours each game

§         They will provide the training

o       Wolf Pack Hockey

§         WHS Fundraiser Night

§         Family Ticket Deal--$13 per person includes admission, hot dog or pizza and a soda

§         We can charge whatever we want for the ticket package.

§         If we sold 20 tickets, we could have an open skate prior to the Wolf Pack game for students, faculty or friends to skate.

o       Shad Derby—A booth is an option

o       Car Wash—is set for April 18, 2009

o       Pasta Dinner—has been set for April 23, 2009 in the Sage Park cafeteria

§         Kevin will look into the Culinary Arts program at Bloomfield HS to make pasta

o       Baseball Jamboree—scheduled  for April 4, 2009


 

v     Ben will be consulted as to what he  wants for the program and to prioritize events.

 

 

v     Ric will also get a letter to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (their General Manager is an alumni of Windsor High) to see if they can help us.

 

 

Ø      FUTURE DIRECTION OF THE DIAMOND CLUB—

o       Keep the Diamond Club for WHS baseball

o       Windsor Baseball Association becomes a new organization for the town

o       There needs to be a voice for the town

 

 

Ø      Ric will try to send letter to new businesses as well as the Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, and Elks from all 5    baseball organizations.

 

Ø      When the team is selected, a letter will go out to the parents indicating the fact that all parents need to get involved with the team—fund raising, etc.  We need to make this clear at the “Meet the Team” night  on 4/1/09

 

Ø      We will get going on ads in January or February—have the juniors and seniors go out and personally deliver thank you letters and baseball booklets from last year to those businesses and organizations that advertised in the booklet.  They will also bring a new order form for ads for this years’ booklet.

 

Ø      The next meeting will be January 12, 2009.  Meetings have also been scheduled for the new year on the following dates—February 9, February 23, March 9, and March 23.
